“Beauty awakens the soul to act.”

“O human race, born to fly upward, wherefore at a little wind dost thou so fall?”

“Consider your origin. You were not formed to live like brutes but to follow virtue and knowledge.”

“The man who lies asleep will never waken fame, and his desire and all his life drift past him like a dream, and the traces of his memory fade from time like smoke in air, or ripples on a stream.”

“A mighty flame follows a tiny spark.”

“Love, that moves the sun and the other stars”

“And we came forth to contemplate the stars.”

WHY ARE FIXED STARS SO IMPORTANT?

“If you follow your star you cannot help but to land in glorious harbour

-        Dante

A fixed star in a prominent part of your chart, through a close (one or two degree) aspect

to your Sun, Moon, or Ascendant sign will impart some of those qualities to your basic nature.

In close aspect to one of your planets, it will affect the affairs of that planet (for example, Mercury

your mind, Venus your love nature, and Mars your energy and sexuality).

Connected to the more generational planets,
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, the fixed

stars will affect you and your life through events surrounding you, and through the houses the

planets are in.

It is a planet between a star and earth that bring out the fixed stars potential.

The effects are not continuous. Eclipses plus the planets Jupiter out to Pluto

have the most marked effect in transit, activating the human head and the endocrine

glands. Planetary returns most powerful. Retrograde motion lessens the effect

of fixed stars. Conjunctions by longitude only.

THE KNOWLEDGE OF STARS;

For almost all of their actions, almost all of the time, whichever religion they accept, the Mongols looked at the stars for the fortunate time. The khans were crowned, wars were

started, general assembly was held according to the stars. The Khans were trying to figure out the span of their sovereignty from the stars. KNOWLEDGE OF STARS IN THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE

The Moon is my commander-in-chief and all other wandering stars are my soldiers and servants."  In the Ottoman Empire, until the end of nineteenth century, astrology and astronomy were considered as one science under the name "ilm-i nucum" (the knowledge of stars) and the scholars who were practicing this science were named as "munajjim". From the name munajjim, it is not possible to understand if the astrologer is meant or the astronomer. They were the same till the beginning of the 20th century. But in the literature of Islamic science, astrology by itself was usually refered as "ilm-i ahkam-i nucum" (the knowledge of the

judgements of the stars), "sanaat-i ahkam-i nucum" (the art of the judgements of the stars), "ilm-i nucum" or "ilm-i tencim", and astronomy was referred as "ilm-i heyet" and "ilm-i eflak" (the knowledge of the heavens). As said earlier the munajjims were studying and practicing astronomy and astrology together, but the main interest of some munajjims was only astrology, and some munajjims were only interested in astronomy.

Before the Ottoman Empire, at the palaces of most of the Turkish and Islamic states, as a custom, the rulers, ministers and high officials had astrologers at their services. We are not

sure if those astrologers were the official astrologers of the palace, but we know that almost all of the rulers were asking their astrologer's advice. In the Ottoman Empire the office of

munajjim-bashi was established sometime between the late 15th and early 16th centuries. The munajjim-bashis were selected from the scholars who had graduated from the madrasahs. From the 16th century on, they started to prepare calendars, fasting timetables, and horoscopes (zayice) for the palace and statesmen. They were calculating the most auspitious hour for important events such as imperial accessions, wars, imperial births, wedding ceremonies, the launching of ships, etc. During the Ottoman Empire, in total, thirty- seven munajjim-bashis served for the palace till the end of 1924. He understood that he will run into trouble on such and such days of that given month. ...all kinds of events which were possible in the new year, were given. In addition, predictions about the sultan, the viziers and the statesmen, the holy days and nights, beginnings of the months, the daily situations of the stars and planets and

weather conditions according to the seasons were given under the title of “el- Mevasim" or " el-Mevasim and ahval-i kevakib". MORE ON THIS ;

A fixed star by itself is not a primary indicator of events / conditions. The entire chart must lean in a certain direction for the fixed star to exert any influence. For example, when a natal Saturn has three or four malefic aspects to it as well as a conjunction with a fixed star then the astrologer has reason to suspect that the star may influence a situation at some point in the person's life. In addition a fixed star must be conjunct a planet to influence the individual. It should ideally be exactly conjunct the position (an orb of 1 deg max) to cause the star to influence the individual. The distance of the fixed stars are so great from us, hence the nature of influence that it exerts on us is lifelong. Also the fixed star should be in exact orb to activate potential events / situation the tighter the orb, the more influence it will have. Since an exact conjunction or opposition is usually necessary to activate a star's influence, a fixed star sitting in an empty house without a conjunction can be ignored as it may be only triggered by transits or progressions. Eclipses may also affect a fixed star's power in a chart. And fixed stars on the 10th cusp or Ascendant should be carefully noted, since they seem to exert a fairly consistent influence. Finally, a fixed star conjunct any "malefic" planets, such as natal Mars, Saturn, should be especially noted.

It seems that fixed stars have characteristics of certain planets, and these stars tend to be the most dangerous in terms of bodily impairment. For instance, a star that has the traits of Venus might influence blood disorders in general including blood poisoning. A star with the qualities of Mars might bring on hasty or impulsive actions, accidents, injuries that may or may not involve operations and animal bites. A star that is like Saturn might induce chronic, long termed illnesses or weakening or wasting away kinds of disease. A malefic kind or star might help bring about accidents caused by haste, operations and mental problems. It might also influence the bites of insects that cause severe allergic reactions, drug habits or inclination for the overuse of drugs and poisons in the body.

In Vedic astrology the importance of fixed stars are already into existence since time immemorial and are associated with the nakshatras (constellation of fixed stars which are clubbed together). The characteristics of these Nakshatras are visible in the lives of people. The general traits mentioned below which are mentioned by the ancient sages are for people having their birth moon according to the Nakshatras:

For a ray which descends from the centre of a star to the centre of the

earth descends most powerfully is proved to be most powerful in its

species of its operation. One which is turned away34 is weakened in its

effect35 according to the proportion of its obliquity unless to the extent

that they are strengthened by the rays of the other stars falling on the

same places.

Footnote by the editors of the Latin Text: "The neoplatonic theory of the

succession of forms is assumed by the astrological savant. It is the movement of

the stars which provokes the succession of forms in matter. R. Lemay has

analyzed a part of the Introdutorium maius of Abu Ma'shar relative to the

influences of the stars as the cause of the transmutation of the elements and to

generation and corruption. He places the doctrine of Abu Ma'shar in rapport with

the assignment of Aristotle regarding the role of the Sun in generation and

corruption, but he ought to recognize that the Arabic Astrology tended to an

But know this: that human manners and the behaviour of beasts

modify the matter sowing in advance and its inmost nature50 is often

discovered in its effect. From this cause it is that a king's son is king

after his father because the condition of succession in the seed exerts its

influence through the quality of the manners existing in the son having

been generated by the same character which the father had, on

account of the easy transit of such a matter into such a composite

thing51. And the son of a craftsman is usually born more fit for to the

work of his father {than another}, because the stellar rays dispense a

motion52 of this sort into the material {body of the son}.53

48 in hoc loco

49 Thus, the rays of the stars, carrying down into matter their active instigating

impulses, are only one cause of the form in matter at any given moment. The

matter itself has certain diversities which contribute something to the form as well.

50 eius esse, i.e. the matter's condition. Esse is a term which is used in the Latin

Aristotelian Tradition to refer to the property of some thing to exist as substance,

i.e. to exist or be. For Thomas Aquinas, esse was "What is inmost in each and

everything and what is deepest in them all- for it is formal in respect of all that is in

a thing." In an astrological context, it sometimes means a planet's condition, what

we, following Morinus, might call its zodiacal state; but may as well mean the

planet's nature. Here it probably means, ens, being, to be, substance. In other

words, we are in the realm of Aristotelian Physics and Philosophy and esse most

likely refers to a thing's inmost nature.

51 "...propter levem transitum qui est a tali materia in tale materiatum." The

medieval translators of the Arabic originals were confronted with many words and

concepts for which they had no Latin equivalents. They created words to fit their

needs. Thus, for instance, arose elementata ("elemented"), signifying the 4

primitive qualities: hot, cold, wet, and dry, from elementum, element. So too Alfano

of Salerno, in his translation of Nemesius, created the word materiatus, which we

see as the last word in the above quote. It signifies a thing made, composed, or

constructed, out of matter. It is probably from materio, -atus, 1.v.a. "to build of

wood". Here, of course, it is not used in this sense, but in a special sense of

"mattered" or made of matter. The Latin translator seems to have followed

Alfano's

The things of this world and their motion according to place and times

are found to vary, which--because they proceed from a celestial cause--

led either all or some of the wise who knew the virtue of this cause to

wonder. If it were given to anyone to comprehend the whole

condition of the celestial harmony, he would fully understand the

world of the elements with all of its contents in each place and at every

time, as it were the caused by the cause. If, indeed, should he

understand any one thing in this world in its total condition, the

condition of the celestial harmony itself would not lie hidden, because

he would understand the cause by its effect. Everything acting in the

world of the elements, however small, is an effect of the entire celestial

harmony. All things which have been and which are yet to be are

denoted in that same harmony, although in another manner than

things, which have actual existence in this time.

Whence he who has noted the condition of the celestial harmonyknows

past, present and future. Also, should the condition of one

individual thing of this world be fully known there would be present

to the knower, as in a mirror, the total condition of the celestial

harmony, since every thing of this world is an exemplum of the

universal harmony.

Each star has 8 pointed rays.

"At the beginning of the century, the astrologer, who was also called as the master of stars,

was of basic importance. A person mostly from the scholar class was assigned as the

Munajjim of the Sultan, which was an official position in the government. When an

important and official job or construction of a government building was to be started, for the

determination of the auspicious hour, munajjim-bashi was asked to prepare a calculation,

called zayice, and the work was started or the first stone of the building was placed, animals

were sacrificed at the time, hour, even minute determined accordingly.  Ordinary people were also,

before they build a house, start a journey, move from home to the summer house, from the

summer house to Istanbul, start an important job, organize the wedding ceremony,

consulting the munajjim-bashi, if they know him, if not they were going to other well known

astrologers....for almost

everything, like for an interview on an important deal and, moreover, for wearing a new

dress, repairing or decorating the house, the auspicious hour was determined and

everything was done at that hour.

Astrology during Mongols and Ilkhans (Ilkhanid Mongols in Persia, 1220-1350)

For almost all of their actions, almost all of the time, whichever religion they accept, the

Mongols looked at the stars for the fortunate time. The khans were crowned, wars were

started, general assembly was held according to the stars. The Khans were trying to figure

out the span of their sovereignty from the stars.

...knew the knowledge of stars very well.

He understood that he will run into trouble on such and such days

of that given month.

he was very concerned about some would-be astrologers, who know nothing

about the knowledge of stars, creating civic turmoil with rumours of earthquakes, fires, etc.

in the coffeshops and barbershops. In order to find the ones who create these rumours, he

appointed some men to investigate secretly. They arrested six people ." 6

One of the most important jobs of the munajjm-bashi was to prepare the calendar of the

coming year. He was preparing both numerical and judgements calendars and presenting

them to the sultan at every vernal equinox.

"Formerly we, the natives of Istanbul, used to give much importance to the notifications of

astrologers and their the predictions for the future. In order to start something we absolutely

asked for eyyam-i su'd (auspicious days). At the notification sections of the calendars,

auspicious and inauspicious days were noted and since most of the people were inclined to

look at the stars for the fortune, they were taking such phrases into consideration. There

were even such people who would not like to go out at the days corresponding to a

particular sign; for example, they would say, ".... sign is a watery sign, so it will rain." The

books called Melhame* (Melhame-i Cevri, was the most popular one) were very important for

such people and these books were stimulating the groundless fear on this matter. Very often,

by turning to these books, they would do predictions looking at the southwester at the

beginning of month, rain on the fifteenth day of the month, rednesses seen at the horizon, the

solar and lunar eclipses, earthquakes, stars and comets."

To use the fixed stars you need to correct for Precession.

All the fixed star positions used on this site are set for the year 2000. The rate of

precession is 1° per 72 years, or 0.838′ per year. You need to move the planets in

your horoscope forward to catch up with the stars positions for 2000.

If you were born in 1928
2000 − 1928 = 72
72 Χ 0.838 = 60
Add 60′ (1°00′) to your planets.

If you were born in 1970
2000 − 1970 = 30
30 Χ 0.838 = 25
Add 25′ (0°25′) to your planets.

“There are two methods of using the fixed stars and their constellations for

astrological purposes nowadays. 1) The fixed stars longitude method on the ecliptic

or 2) The visual astrology of parans. The ecliptic is the path the Sun takes to travel

around the earth, and it comprises the 360 degrees of the zodiac. The use of

fixed stars in astrology goes back thousands of years…”

LAMBDA: Voice of the Invisible

When we look at the microscopic and atomic realms, we likewise use modern electronic devices which also help us penetrate to the very physics of the dawn of the Universe.  White noise is the Voice of the Invisible. The Cosmic Microwave Background, the ambient background of the Big Bang, is responsible for 1/4 - 1/3 of the static on your TV set.

In 1965, Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson published a scientific study which proved that a radio signal with a wavelength of 7.3 cm was being emitted uniformly throughout all parts of the sky. This signal became known as cosmic microwave background radiation. Every cosmology predicts a CMB.

Penzias and Wilson won the Nobel Prize in physics in 1978 for their findings. It is believed that this cosmic static is comprised of photons of energy that are still cooling 15 billion years after the Big Bang. If you turn a television to a channel with no station, you will see this static.

"Surges of energy come through and cook the special transistors. Fortunately, I have a lot of them left. "

In the last week i have learned more than i ever wanted to know about the year 2157 everybody uses non-em waves. some present day components are modifiable. design rules are completely different; high gain low noise junction transistors usable to 8 ghz are the key thing. very hard to use them with out burn up though.

…its a group of nonscientist nerdish types in the year 2157 in northern new mexico, near where santa fe used to be (!?) they are into an unbelievably haunting kind of avant garde high-brow music that uses struck string keyboard instruments and rotary organs (Whiter Shade of Pale, Procul Harum) they call themselves "Mighty Wurlitzer"

I recorded some of the dysrhythmic, 23 note scale music as best I could. its scary, haunting, plaintive. vocals come in on gradual build up and speed up , the music is unlike anything iever heard. There are dozens of realms and dozens of fakers too. Most people ecounter idle troublemakers with plenty of spare time, because they are most inclined to be talkative.

What if, Penrose asked, there are molecular structures in our brains that are able to alter their state in response to a single quantum event. Could not these structures then adopt a superposition state, just like the particles in the double slit experiment? And might those quantum superpositions then show up in the ways neurons are triggered to communicate via electrical signals?

Maybe, says Penrose, our ability to sustain seemingly incompatible mental states is no quirk of perception, but a real quantum effect.

Nobody understands what consciousness is or how it works. Nobody understands quantum mechanics either. Could that be more than coincidence?  "observations not only disturb what has to be measured, they produce it… We compel [a quantum particle] to assume a definite position." In other words, Jordan said, "we ourselves produce the results of measurements."

If that is so, objective reality seems to go out of the window.

And it gets even stranger.

If nature seems to be changing its behaviour depending on whether we "look" or not, we could try to trick it into showing its hand. To do so, we could measure which path a particle took through the double slits, but only after it has passed through them. By then, it ought to have "decided" whether to take one path or both.

The sheer act of noticing, rather than any physical disturbance caused by measuring, can cause the collapse

An experiment for doing this was proposed in the 1970s by the American physicist John Wheeler, and this "delayed choice" experiment was performed in the following decade. It uses clever techniques to make measurements on the paths of quantum particles (generally, particles of light, called photons) after they should have chosen whether to take one path or a superposition of two.

It turns out that, just as Bohr confidently predicted, it makes no difference whether we delay the measurement or not. As long as we measure the photon's path before its arrival at a detector is finally registered, we lose all interference.

It is as if nature "knows" not just if we are looking, but if we are planning to look.

Whenever, in these experiments, we discover the path of a quantum particle, its cloud of possible routes "collapses" into a single well-defined state. What's more, the delayed-choice experiment implies that the sheer act of noticing, rather than any physical disturbance caused by measuring, can cause the collapse. But does this mean that true collapse has only happened when the result of a measurement impinges on our consciousness?

It is hard to avoid the implication that consciousness and quantum mechanics are somehow linked

That possibility was admitted in the 1930s by the Hungarian physicist Eugene Wigner. "It follows that the quantum description of objects is influenced by impressions entering my consciousness," he wrote. "Solipsism may be logically consistent with present quantum mechanics."

Wheeler even entertained the thought that the presence of living beings, which are capable of "noticing", has transformed what was previously a multitude of possible quantum pasts into one concrete history. In this sense, Wheeler said, we become participants in the evolution of the Universe since its very beginning. In his words, we live in a "participatory universe."

Penrose first proposed that quantum effects feature in human cognition in his 1989 book The Emperor's New Mind. The idea is called Orch-OR, which is short for "orchestrated objective reduction". The phrase "objective reduction" means that, as Penrose believes, the collapse of quantum interference and superposition is a real, physical process, like the bursting of a bubble.

Orch-OR draws on Penrose's suggestion that gravity is responsible for the fact that everyday objects, such as chairs and planets, do not display quantum effects. Penrose believes that quantum superpositions become impossible for objects much larger than atoms, because their gravitational effects would then force two incompatible versions of space-time to coexist.

Penrose developed this idea further with American physician Stuart Hameroff. In his 1994 book Shadows of the Mind, he suggested that the structures involved in this quantum cognition might be protein strands called microtubules. These are found in most of our cells, including the neurons in our brains. Penrose and Hameroff argue that vibrations of microtubules can adopt a quantum superposition.

But there is no evidence that such a thing is remotely feasible.

It has been suggested that the idea of quantum superpositions in microtubules is supported by experiments described in 2013, but in fact those studies made no mention of quantum effects.

Besides, most researchers think that the Orch-OR idea was ruled out by a study published in 2000. Physicist Max Tegmark calculated that quantum superpositions of the molecules involved in neural signaling could not survive for even a fraction of the time needed for such a signal to get anywhere.

Other researchers have found evidence for quantum effects in living beings

Quantum effects such as superposition are easily destroyed, because of a process called decoherence. This is caused by the interactions of a quantum object with its surrounding environment, through which the "quantumness" leaks away.

Decoherence is expected to be extremely rapid in warm and wet environments like living cells.

Nerve signals are electrical pulses, caused by the passage of electrically-charged atoms across the walls of nerve cells. If one of these atoms was in a superposition and then collided with a neuron, Tegmark showed that the superposition should decay in less than one billion billionth of a second. It takes at least ten thousand trillion times as long for a neuron to discharge a signal.

As a result, ideas about quantum effects in the brain are viewed with great skepticism.

However, Penrose is unmoved by those arguments and stands by the Orch-OR hypothesis. And despite Tegmark's prediction of ultra-fast decoherence in cells, other researchers have found evidence for quantum effects in living beings. Some argue that quantum mechanics is harnessed by migratory birds that use magnetic navigation, and by green plants when they use sunlight to make sugars in photosynthesis.

In a study published in 2015, physicist Matthew Fisher of the University of California at Santa Barbara argued that the brain might contain molecules capable of sustaining more robust quantum superpositions. Specifically, he thinks that the nuclei of phosphorus atoms may have this ability.

Phosphorus atoms are everywhere in living cells. They often take the form of phosphate ions, in which one phosphorus atom joins up with four oxygen atoms.

Such ions are the basic unit of energy within cells. Much of the cell's energy is stored in molecules called ATP, which contain a string of three phosphate groups joined to an organic molecule. When one of the phosphates is cut free, energy is released for the cell to use.

Cells have molecular machinery for assembling phosphate ions into groups and cleaving them off again. Fisher suggested a scheme in which two phosphate ions might be placed in a special kind of superposition called an "entangled state".

Phosphorus spins could resist decoherence for a day or so, even in living cells

The phosphorus nuclei have a quantum property called spin, which makes them rather like little magnets with poles pointing in particular directions. In an entangled state, the spin of one phosphorus nucleus depends on that of the other.

Put another way, entangled states are really superposition states involving more than one quantum particle.

Fisher says that the quantum-mechanical behaviour of these nuclear spins could plausibly resist decoherence on human timescales. He agrees with Tegmark that quantum vibrations, like those postulated by Penrose and Hameroff, will be strongly affected by their surroundings "and will decohere almost immediately". But nuclear spins do not interact very strongly with their surroundings.

All the same, quantum behaviour in the phosphorus nuclear spins would have to be "protected" from decoherence.

This might happen, Fisher says, if the phosphorus atoms are incorporated into larger objects called "Posner molecules". These are clusters of six phosphate ions, combined with nine calcium ions. There is some evidence that they can exist in living cells, though this is currently far from conclusive.

I decided... to explore how on earth the lithium ion could have such a dramatic effect in treating mental conditions

In Posner molecules, Fisher argues, phosphorus spins could resist decoherence for a day or so, even in living cells. That means they could influence how the brain works.

The idea is that Posner molecules can be swallowed up by neurons. Once inside, the Posner molecules could trigger the firing of a signal to another neuron, by falling apart and releasing their calcium ions.

Because of entanglement in Posner molecules, two such signals might thus in turn become entangled: a kind of quantum superposition of a "thought", you might say. "If quantum processing with nuclear spins is in fact present in the brain, it would be an extremely common occurrence, happening pretty much all the time," Fisher says.

He first got this idea when he started thinking about mental illness.

HOW STARS, PLANETS MAKE MUSIC

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MmWeZHsQzs

Have researchers discovered the sound of the stars?

the sound generated was at such a high frequency that it would have left even bats and dolphins struggling! With a frequency of nearly a trillion hertz, the sound generated was not only unexpected, but was also at close to the highest frequency possible in such a material – six million times higher than that which can be heard by any mammal!

"...the stars might be singing – but, since sound cannot propagate through the vacuum of space, no-one can hear them.”"

Pulsars, a type of neutron star, are examples of radio stars.[1] Rotation-powered pulsars are, as the name suggests, powered by the slow-down of their rotation. The rotation powers a magnetic field, which generates the radio emissions. Not all rotation-powered pulsars generate their pulses in the radio spectrum. Some of them, from the millisecond pulsars, generate X-rays instead. Aside from radio pulsars and X-ray pulsars, there are also gamma ray pulsars, which are mostly magnetars. Some radio pulsars are also optical pulsars.

Aside from pulsars, another type of neutron star is also characterized by radio emissions: the rotating radio transient (RRAT). As suggested by the name, the radio emission is erratic.

Some late-type stars can produce astrophysical masers from their atmospheres and beam out coherent bursts of microwaves.

The Sun, the nearest star to Earth, is known to emit radio waves, though it is virtually the only regular star that has been detected in the radio spectrum, because it is so close. It is not considered a radio star because it is not a strong radio source.[2]

Now a team of researchers have found the first evidence that stars generate a sound of their own — although the result is distinctly otherworldly. At nearly a trillion hertz, the sound generated in the experiment wasn’t something fit for human enjoyment. (The human ear recognizes pitches from 20 to 20,000Hz.)

Basically, the color of light that a star emits is somewhat related to its age, whereas the color of light that we actually observe from a star is related to the speed at which it's moving with respect to us.

Stars emit colors of many different wavelengths, but the wavelength of light where a star's emission is concentrated is related to the star's temperature - the hotter the star, the more blue it is; the cooler the star, the more red it is.

we also have to take into account what happens to a star's light between when it is emitted and when we observe it. In that case, there is something called the "Doppler effect" which changes the frequency of the light waves - and since the frequency of light is directly related to its color, it changes the color as well. This is very similar to the effect you get when a train passes, and its whistle goes from high to low pitch as it goes past you. When this effect is applied to light waves as opposed to sound waves, it makes light that is emitted by something moving away from us appear more red, and light emitted by something moving towards us appear more blue. There are a couple of ways in which this relates to a star's age: For most of a star's life, it is on the "main sequence", which means that it is undergoing nuclear burning of hydrogen in its center and the energy produced from that process balances it against the force of gravity. When it runs out of hydrogen to burn, the star becomes unbalanced, and its size and temperature can change. For some stars, particularly those that start off very hot, the temperature at this point in the star's life will tend to decrease and therefore the star will become red. So that is one way in which older stars are redder than young stars.

Often, though, when we talk about stars' ages being related to their color we are talking about stars which are still on the "main sequence", since that's where they spend most of their lives. Basically, it turns out that the hotter (and therefore bluer) a star is while it's on the main sequence, the faster it burns its hydrogen and the quicker it dies. So if you see a blue star on the main sequence, you know it must be relatively young - otherewise it would have burnt out already. But the converse isn't true - that is, just because you see a red star doesn't mean that it's old! Where this becomes useful is when you look at a bunch of stars (for example, all the stars in a faraway galaxy). If you see that all the stars are red, then you can infer that there hasn't been much star formation going on in this galaxy recently - otherwise, you'd expect to see some young blue stars just by chance. So you can figure out that the stars in the galaxy must be relatively old.

Donald Adams Thanks Celina, its a fascinating subject. I know the Magi Astro group puts a lot of emphasis on the importance of these in natal, transit and other charts, and I have been reviewing charts with the fixed stars included... real eye openers. Ive been compiling some of the better content on fixed stars, if any one is interested I can post the link - note this is under construction tho.

Patrick O'Neill

Patrick O'Neill Donald ,in my humble opinion ,the use of FS in Horary has had a very fatalistic tradition -often the most potent stats have a reputation for powerful influence as "King makers","spectacular fall from grace",infamy ,shipwreck ,monetary fortune ,violence -to name a few examples .Those same stars and their influence could be used with a later day approach -where the world is a different place -no less complex or extreme but different .In Horary we are looking toward the outcome of events , or to answer a question .The application of fixed stars is potentially a great tool -But the Horary is about a singular moment ,or the short term situation .Thus FS can have a real punch -And the art is being familiar enough with their effects AND seeing this in the unique context of that chart .In all astrology ,Fixed stars must be given the smallest orb -1 degree max-and as they do Not cast aspects , it is only the conjunction which would apply. The movement of stars ,as captured in the chart's Moment is more than what it would seem .The use of Parans is one application of birth Horoscopy that may not apply to Horary -because we are tracking the movements of stars thru the sky before ,during and after the birth time ,this goes against the instantaneous nature of Horary -If folks disagree,I am absolutely open to discussion .

Donald Adams I get where you are coming from Patrick - one thing to consider is the context and framework... wherein the fatalistic tradition was an attribute of the mindset of the time and culture - the application, interpretation, association of FS reflected this. Going forward is our only choice and most meaningful. In my use of FS to date, esp when viewing the detailed interpretation of planets conjuncting FS on natal charts is the stunning insights given that allow for greater self understanding and directing choices, actions. As an example when I view the FS on my house cusps and conj to planets the net results are eureka moments, info revealed that I hadnt known at all about but made perfect sense and in other cases things I had intuitively suspected vaguely but now given clarity. Our notion of 'fate' does not need to correspond to the ancients and as contemporary people we have a greater set of options in how we use this information. When applying with horary however, today, what I like is that FS gives us peeks in to hidden things in the horary chart we might miss entirely

Patrick O'Neill

Patrick O'Neill Cool -I actually have a very open and respectful attitude to Fate -I believe that a lot of what we experience is fated ,IMO-But it seems that we do have more education and knowledge than the ancients .By that I mean that the general standard of education is broader and more comprehensive ,for the general populace .Yet there will always be ignorance , indignance and folks will only listen and learn if they care to .However-perhaps the ancient people were much more in touch with their environment, more clued in to the moment, the world they inhabited. They seemed to lay their faith in the hands of the Gods-I pretty much do the same thing-thousands of years later-go with the flow and trust in the Universe. To me the FS are Fated -The Stars ,planets etc r an unstoppable force that can not be denied-especially with the immeadiate nature of a Horary -where it usually is all over and done with very quick .There is not the same scope for psychological insight and personal growth -That is potentialy in birth chart astrology.I guess My point here is that the study of FS must evolve with the times ,but as human nature does not change -it is only the coustumes ,props and backdrops we are kitted with that r new to this present day ,but the human drama is timeless.

Donald Adams Patrick O'Neill Good points made, as a science researcher, I view fate, literally as a form of gravity and gravity can be modulated and nullified, but with out such its hard to escape it for sure. The way I view and use FS currently is as informational pattern flags that describe things like state, potentials, etc..... some links that may be of interest ;

Donald Adams Inter-planetary Wave Coupling

Wave Coupling refers to the standing gravitational waves between two planets. The frequencies of these waves are determined, in part, by the distance between the planets. Extra significant Wave Coupling Resonances occur when the "planetary distance harmonics" resonate with any of the other harmonics created by the astrophysical parameters of the planets involved.

Sandi Diehl Fixed Stars are the actual significant stars within the major constellations. They can be incredible to follow, but do require tight orbs. Each Zodiac sign has a couple and the strong magnitude ones outside of the Zodiac belt can be included. Josh Nelson Often times their meanings will be symbolic, but they can often be fairly literal as well. Take Algol. It often shows up in horaries where people “lose their heads” as in lose their tempers, but it’s often come up in event charts too where someone has been beheaded or shot in the head or something.

I’ve noticed that L1 or the Ascendant on Spica tends to give the querent an extra “boost”.

Donald Adams Real value of fixed stars in a horary chart, strikes me as being those situations where we see positive aspects, positions but the outcome turns out to be negative or muted - intuitively, my guess is that in many such situations we might just see an evil star perched in a precarious place, like wise the converse may happen where in where we see a configuration that seems inauspicious but some how turns out better than suspected we might see a positive, lucky star giving an extra boost to the scenario

What comes to mind is radio telescopes. I have barely scratched the surface but I know there's something."

MY REPSONSE :

Thanks for the questions and interest Jeremy.  The basic response

to your inquiries are "yes" cosmic waves are harnessable and

measurable, they can be stepped up and down for mechanistic service.

Dale has a robust selection of articles on cosmic energies on his

site and in my opinion you are correct in that Keeys work does have

a significant connection to these. Following are excerpts from a new

web page (see link below) which I provided to our youtube channels

subgroup dealing with paranormal studies, this link was provided as

a reference to a new video I just uploaded for them.  There is much

more I could provide feedback on in re your questions, but these

materials should be a good place to start for now.

Below text snippets are in relation to your questions

from that link, see ;

In Traditional Chinese medicine, the Six Levels are first heard of fromZhang Zhongjing in the Shang Han Lun (translated into 'On Cold Damage) from about 220 AD or about 1700 years ago.

The six stages are

·         Tai Yang or Greater Yang

·         Yang Ming or Bright Yang

·         Shao Yang or Lesser Yang

·         Tai Yin or Greater Yin

·         Shao Yin or Lesser Yin

·         Jue Yin or Terminal Yin

Lesser Yang Shao Yang stage is fairly common in Western developed countries where we are either less fit or better at preventing the high fevers of the Bright Yang stage.

In a way, this is a pity. The Bright Yang stage is a strong defence mounted by your body when attacked by Cold disease.

This, the Lesser Yang Shao Yang stage, is not so strong, and can take longer. If it takes much longer, that means more suffering. When it goes on a bit, most people succumb to the blandishments of modern pharmacists and take painkillers.

That means that their ills are usually successfully 'suppressed'. That's not necessarily a good thing. Why? Read Suppression.

What is happening at the Lesser-Yang stage?

The Lesser Yang Shao Yang stage mobilises two channels of acupuncture, which are really one long one, called the Lesser Yang Shao Yang channel:

·         the Three Heater channel starting on your fourth finger, next to your small finger, goes up your arm and over the side of your head to your eye

·         from your eye the Gallbladder channel goes over the side of the head next to your Three Heater channel then down the side of your body and legs to your fourth toe, the one next to your smallest toe.

·         Since these two channels are affected, you also get some disturbance in their paired channels and zang-fu organs, the Pericardium and Liver channels.

This long channel is on the side of your body, whereas the Greater (Tai) Yang channels (again made up of two long ones, Small Intestine and Bladder) are on your back, your most Yang area.

In the Greater Yang Tai Yang stage your body kept the invader in the Yang areas  - on your back. Now it's been forced to permit the invader half-way round to the front, the Yin area.

So your body is still fighting but the invader is half-way through the door. As the door swings one way or the other, the invader is pushed out or forces his way further in.

Of course, these are figurative: pictures to help us understand. There isn't a great big bogeyman, Wind-Cold, that you can see. But your body behaves as if, fighting this invisible opponent, it is trying to keep him away from the centre.

Door Swinging in Hospital

Dreamstime

The symptoms, such as the bitter taste, fullness under the ribs and blurred vision come from these two channels, particularly the Gallbladder channel, which plays a large part in maintaining vision and courage: in this state you aren't feeling very courageous.

Symptoms of Lesser Yang Shao Yang stage

The main feature of this Lesser Yang Shao Yang stage is that the body and the wind-cold are almost evenly matched, so at times one is winning, at times the other.

This means you get an alternation between keeping the disease process on the outside and letting it in, as your body strives to keep it out. It's like alternating between the first two stages, above.

When it's on the outside, you get shivering. When it's on the inside, you get fever.

·         Two alternating states: feeling cold and shivering

·         versus...

·         feeling hot and feverish. Unlike in the Greater Yang stage, above, you don't get both shivering and feeling hot at the same time. Instead, here they alternate.

·         If you don't actually have a fever as measured by a thermometer when you are feeling hot - during the hot alternations - you may also not actually feel objectively hot to someone touching you.

·         taste may be bitter (from the Gallbladder in excess)

·         full distended feeling under the ribs (hypochondria, the area 'ruled' by your Liver)

·         vision can be blurred (because Liver and Gallbladder can't maintain good Qi and Blood to the eyes)

·         no desire to drink

·         no desire to eat

·         nausea, possibly vomiting: often stomach ache (because Liver 'attacks' the Stomach)

·         irritable and mentally disturbed: can prevent sleep (if your Pericardium is disturbed)

·         your heart-beat may be irregular (if your Pericardium is also affected)

·         Tongue: often has a coating, thin and white or a mixture or white and yellow: may be on one half only: sides may be a bit redder than the rest of the tongue

·         Pulse: thin and wiry

What can YOU do at this Lesser Yang stage?

Don't let yourself get cold and do keep warm. That's about it.

At this Lesser Yang Shao Yang stage, I'm not sure vigorous physical exercise is so helpful because your body's energy is already depleted and only just holding its own.

Making your body take vigorous exercise, to the point where you sweat, may weaken it further, allowing the invader to push in more. Sleep is a better suggestion. Lots of rest.

However, you must keep your energy up so you should try to eat and drink small amounts, even if you don't relish them.

·         Food and drinks should be warm

·         Food should be easily digested and nutritious, so warm rice pudding is good: even better are warm vegetable soups and, if you are not vegetarian, chicken or beef consommι.

·         Ginger is excellent to help you digest food

·         There is a theoretical suggestion that warm, weak, cider vinegar might assist your body here. You don't need much, just a few drops in warm water. However, I haven't tested this myself on the very few (I'm glad to say)  occasions I've been in the Lesser Yang stage: I just stayed in bed and let my body sort it out.

What would your acupuncturist do for this Lesser Yang Shao Yang stage?

Points along the Lesser Yang Shao Yang channels (Gallbladder and Three Heater) would mostly be used, the aim being to release the invader outwards by harmonising the channel. For example, TH 5, TH 6, TH 17, GB 34, GB 41, Du 13.

There is an ancient herbal recipe that is often very effective: Xiao Chai Hu Tang.

What happens if the Invader gets past the Lesser Yang stage?

In that case, the disease has penetrated past your first two Yang defences and is now at the Bright Yang Yang Ming stage on its way to your Yin defence area, ie the Greater Yin stage. However, the last of the Yang defences (ie the Bright Yang Yang Mind stage) is a strong one.

DAVID COCHRANE ON THE ARABIC PARTS  : “Symmetry is always created when there is planetary resonance, so Witte is correct; whether one prefers to focus on the symmetry or the resonance, one is actually identifying the same phenomenon. Planetary resonance is based on wave theory, which allows an even wider number of astrological influences to be integrated into a single conceptual framework.

"......This is similar to a crystal-forming function in nature, and is entropy-defying and life-enhancing......from the viewpoint of wave theory, then, there is as a double-resonance, which in turn creates a huge astrological resonance. ....Thus, we have a curious consonance formed between John Addey's harmonic theory and the ancient system of Arabic Parts. Zoller correctly points out that Arabic Parts were discarded in modern times because of their apparent non-rational basis, but, amazingly, they are now found to be completely rational and harmonic astrological theory (i.e. wave theory) confirms that Arabic Parts should be given the very high priority and importance that they are given in classical astrology.”

THE MATHEMATICAL BASIS OF ARABIC PARTS
AND A PARADIGM SHIFT IN ASTROLOGY

An Arabic Part forms an isosceles trapezoid with the 3 points used in the Arabic Part formula. This fact has enormous implications regarding why Arabic Parts are important, how they work, and even the fundamental assumptions of astrology! However, the underlying geometry of Arabic Parts has been almost completely overlooked throughout the entire history of astrology.

ISOSCELES TRAPEZOID:

An isosceles trapezoid is a four-sided figure which has two opposite sides of the same length, and the shape is vertically symmetrical. Note that an isosceles trapezoid is similar to a parllelogram, but has very different properties from a parallelogram. A parallelogram has 4 parallel sides and does not have symmetry, except in the case of a rectangle. A rectangle is simultaneously a parallelogram and an isosceles trapezoid.

A remarkable property of an isosceles trapezoid is that it has two pairs of equal angles. For example, if you measure the angles between the PF (Part of Fortune), Sun, Moon, and Asc, you will find two pairs of parallel angles.. In the author's birth chart (May 1, 1949, 4:26 AM, East Meadow, NY, USA), for example, rounded to the nearest degree the Asc is 3 Aries, the Sun is 11 Taurus, the Moon is 15 Gemini, and the PF is 7 Taurus. Therefore, the Asc-PF angle is 34 degrees and Sun-Moon angle is 34 degees. Also, the Asc-Sun angle is 38 degrees and the Moon-PF angle is 38 degrees. There are always two pairs of angles that are identical in an isosceles trapezoid, and because the Asc, Sun, Moon, and PF form an isosceles trapezoid this is also true among the 3 points and the Arabic Part used.

FORMULA:

In the previous paragraph I used the PF formula of Asc+Moon-Sun. The reader may know that the PS (Part of Spirit), whose formula is Asc+Sun-Moon, is regarded by many authorities as being the PF if the Sun is in the first six houses. Very interestingly, the PS also forms an isosceles trapezoid with the Sun and Moon. In the author's chart, the PS is 29 Aquarius. The PS-Asc angle is 34 degrees and the Sun-Moon angle is 34 degrees. Also the PS-Sun angle is 72 degrees and the Asc-Moon angle is 72 degrees.

Given three points, there are three other points that form an isosceles trapezoid with these three points. In the case of what is widely regarded as the three most important points in the chart (the Sun, Moon, and Asc), two of the points are the PF and PS. Both ancient and modern astrologers very rarely use the third point. The formula for the third Arabic Part that can be constructed with the Sun, Moon, and Asc is Sun+Moon-Asc. When I first began experimenting with this Arabic Part, I called it the Part of Integration but then I noticed that it was already listed in my software and has the name Part of Redemption, and this Arabic Part is attributed to al Biruni. I have not yet researched al Biruni's work to see if he used this Arabic Part because it is the third isosceles trapezoid that can be formed with the Sun, Moon, and Asc, or perhaps someone simply wanted to experiment with the third formula that is possible in adding two of the three points and
subtracting the third. I will use al Biruni's term, the Part of Redemption (PR). There is an elegant relationship between PF, PS, and PR; the formula involves adding two of the three points and subtracting the third. This elegant and simple formula calculates the three points which form isosceles trapezoids with any three points. In the author's chart, PR is 23 Cancer. The two pairs of identical angles are: Asc-Sun and Moon-PR are 38 degrees, and Asc-Moon and Sun-PR are 72 degrees.

Because most ancient astrologers appear to have not noticed, or were not concerned, with the fact that PF and PS form isosceles trapezoids, it is not surprising that the PR was largely overlooked. Most Arabic Parts formulae begin with the Ascendant, so subtracting the Asc instead of adding it may not have been an intuitively obvious thing to do. From the standpoint of the geometry involved, however, the PR would appear to be a natural corollary of the PF and PS.

As the reader no doubt noticed, particular angles are repeated in a given chart; in the author's charts, these angles are 34 degrees, 38 degrees, and the sum of these two angles which is 72 degrees. This repetition of particular angles can be viewed as a consequence of the three isosceles trapezoids having overlapping sides. Even more important is this vitally important fact: whenver two angles are the same in chart, there are two pairs of identical angles. As soon as two angles are the same, then an isosceles trapezoid is formed and there are two pairs of identical angles. This is similar to a crystal-forming function in nature, and is entropy-defying and life-enhancing.

The reason that I propose viewing the formation of two pairs of angles as entropy-defying whenever one pair of angles forms is this: one can view the double pairs of angles in an isosceles trapezoid as a huge resonance; from the viewpoint of wave theory, then, there is as a double-resonance, which in turn creates a huge astrological resonance. One can argue that this double resonance, from the standpoint of wave theory (or harmonic astrology, which is founded on the concept of waves), is far more powerful than the usual application of wave theory to support the concept of minor aspects. In fact, from the point of view of wave theory, the PF, PS, and PR are arguably the most important derived points in the chart! Thus, we have a curious consonance formed between John Addey's harmonic theory and the ancient system of Arabic Parts. The consonance is extraordinary because resonating angles are extraordinarily powerful according to wave theory, as the striking of a tuning fork at one end of a room and the other tuning fork echoing back the same note testifies. That we can use harmonic theory retrospectively to identify Arabic Parts as the most important derived points in the chart produces perfect alignment of ancient astrological methods and harmonic astrology.

This perfect alignment, however, contrasts with the growing philosophical chasm that has developed between some adherents to ancient methods and those that espouse modern "scientific" methods. For example, in the book The Arabic Parts: Lost Keys to Prediction Robert Zoller refers to Kepler's astrology as "distorted" and John Frawley has similar scathing remarks about Kepler's introduction of minor aspects to astrology. Kepler's explicit description of minor aspects is the first known clear articulation of the concept, and minor aspects are a fundamental concept in the harmonic astrology further developed by John Addey in the 20th century.

In the article The Newtonian Merry-go-round Bernadette Brady has identified major shifts in astrological through in the 20th century. Brady bases her thesis on a study of articles in major British articles. My less formal, personal anecdotal observations since the early 1970's in the United States confirms Brady's historical trends. According to Brady we are now in a cycle where disillusionment with simple Newtonian proofs of astrology is inspiring us to develop greater interest in qualitative, rather than quantitative models, and many astrologers now have forsaken the view that astrology just needs more research to be validated in simple experiments. I agree with Brady's observations. This movement away from astrology as a simple science is huge, and there is a growing wave of interest in pursuing more subtle views of astrology, incorporating concepts such as divination, chaos theory, etc. Works by Patrick Curry, Geoffrey Cornelius, Garry Phillipson,
and many others are creating a new framework for understanding astrology in the 21st century.

BASIS OF ARABIC PARTS IN EUCLIDEAN GEOMETRY AND WAVE THEORY:

The identification of a basis for Arabic Parts in Euclidean geometry and wave theory, therefore, may be greeted by some skeptically, as an anachronistic throwback to the old days of Newtonian thinking. However, the magic performed by these simple Euclidean methods does not end with the above observations, and there is much more insight to be gleaned by a close study of the mathematics that lies behind our astrological methods.

For example, many astrologesr are familiar with the fact that PF and PS are equidistant from the Asc axis and are therefore mirror points of each other.

PR has a similar symmetry around a point as follows:

PR and PS are equidistant from the Sun and therefore are mirror points of each other.
PR and PF are equidistant from the Moon and therefore are mirror points of each other.
Consequently, PS is closely tied to the Sun, as it has a mirror point around the Sun, and PF is closely tied to the Moon, as it has a mirror point around the Moon.

Therefore PS is solar and PF is lunar, which is another way of saying that the ancient doctrine of sect is critically important to an understanding of PS and PF, and PR serves as the balancing point around the Sun and Moon.
Thus, our analysis of the geometry of Arabic Parts has identified that sect is involved in understanding PF and PS. This is a most extraordinary discovery because we now have a mathematical basis for understanding why the ancients used one formula for day charts and a different formula for night charts!!!

SUMMARY:

To summarize: Not only are Arabic Parts indicated by harmonic astrological theory, but even the doctrine of sect applied to the Part of Fortune and Part of Spirt is indicated by harmonic astrological theory.

This finding completely destroys what we had previously assumed: that Arabic Parts are a mystical formula not amenable to Newtonian analysis, and even goes beyond this to demonstrate complete agreement between an ancient technique and harmonic astrology.

Zoller correctly points out that Arabic Parts were discarded in modern times because of their apparent non-rational basis, but, amazingly, they are now found to be completely rational and harmonic astrological theory (i.e. wave theory) confirms that Arabic Parts should be given the very high priority and importance that they are given in classical astrology.

Understanding the geometry of Arabic Parts illuminates our understanding of Arabic Parts, while also opening up new insights, such as the introduction of PR, along with PF and PS. Note that the geometrical foundation of Arabic Parts is a mathematical truth regardless of whether one believes in astrology or not, and regardless of whether one thinks that this geometry is relevant to a greater astrological understanding of the Arabic Parts.

The isosceles trapezoid is an elegant concept that integrates many seemingly disparate astrological concepts, such as midpoints, antiscia and solstice points, Jonas birth control, Vedic tithi returns, the traditional aspect patterns of grand trines, grand crosses, mystic rectangles, and yods, and even the very popular composite chart that was introduced in the 20th century.. The isosceles trapezoid was identified by the founder of the Hamburg school of astrology Alfred Witte. Witte referred to isosceles trapezoids as planetary pictures. Rather than find the fourth point that makes an isosceles trapezoid (an Arabic Part), Witte interpreted isosceles trapezoids that occur in the chart. He did not, to my knowledge, emphasize the geometric shape or the fact that planetary pictures and Arabic Parts are mathematically identical; he was more intrigued by the symmetry that planetary pictures have.. Symmetry is always created when there is planetary resonance, so
Witte is correct; whether one prefers to focus on the symmetry or the resonance, one is actually identifying the same phenomenon. Planetary resonance is based on wave theory, which allows an even wider number of astrological influences to be integrated into a single conceptual framework.

A large number of astrological techniques are either comprised of isosceles trapezoids, or can be viewed as derivatives of isosceles trapezoids. A full discussion of the relationships of these astrological techniques to isosceles trapezoids and to each other requires hundreds of pages, but hopefully this very terse introduction to some new vistas in astrological thought has been informative, interesting and inspiring to the reader.

The re-introduction of simple mathematical and scientific models into astrology at this time may create some consternation, but it may well be that the current paradigm shift in astrology towards divination and qualitative research will give way to a higher synthesis that incorporates the astrology of Kepler and Addey with ancient methods to create a framework that is not distorted, as Zoller refers to Kepler's astrology, but rather stronger, durable, and more useful and practical than our current edifice. My own sense is that we are on the verge of yet another paradigm shift even before we have settled comfortably into our current movement away from the quantitative and Newtonian approach and towards divination and qualitative research. No doubt this is an unpopular view but we can all agree that interesting times lie ahead of us!

A final note: After reading this article, several people have asked how they can access this information in their software. There are many techniques that employ these concepts, such as composite charts, etc., but most often people want to find PR in their charts and know what isosceles trapezoids occur in their charts.

An isosceles trapezoid mathematically is simply a midpoint conjunct or opposition a midpoint, and a list of midpoints conjunct and opposition midpoints is a good way to view them. My observations indicate that an orb of only about 1/2 degree is used for aspects to Arabic Parts and for midpoints conjunct midpoints, so I look at them up to about a 1 degree orb but pay close attention to only those configurations that are within about 30 minutes orb.. Evidently the planetary resonance occurs only when the angular distances are nearly identical. Kepler 7 users can see PR in the list of Arabic Parts using the default list of Arabic Parts. Select Listings and then Arabic Parts; sort by Arabic Part name to quickly find "Redemption" listed, or you can view this Arabic Part in the Arabic Parts wheel. You can select Listings, and then select Harmonic Patterns Listings, and then select the first option of "Harmonic triangles and Midpt conj Midpt" and scroll to the
bottom of the listing. For my own use I change the orbs from 3 degrees to 1 degree; to change the orbs, click on the "Orbs of Aspects" buttons on the screen where you select the report, and then click the Next button until you get to the end of the list of aspects, and change the applying and separating orbs of the midpoint conjunct midpoint and midpoint opposition midpoint to 1 degree. Note that oppositions are regarded as equivalent to conjunctions because the midpoints in both cases lie on the same midpoint axis. Users of other major astrological software can probably select these features in a similar manner in their programs.

The Astrology You Don't Know - And How It Affects You

http://www.astro.com/astrology/in_unknownastro_e.htm

"...persons connected via projects, purposes, or destiny tended to cross paths often at improbable times and places. I coined the phenomena Shell Route Collision; and when these crossings occurred, my friends would yell out, "Shell route collision!" to humor me. The metaphor was drawn from the orbital trajectory that electrons follow. While circling the same atom's nucleus their trajectories invariably overlap. With this knowledge, I could stand back and watch a shell route collision moment form. Later, in what I take for an omen of agreement, I came upon a Kurt Vonnegut novel where the noted author related largely the same observation. He termed it the Karass Theory."

When people take the time to decode Astrology's cosmic alphabet, they gain immense insight into the nature (and timing) of inter-personal, unfolding dramas. Generally, the more precise the overlap, the greater the intensity. And that takes us to the Zodiac's 360 degrees. Powerful esoteric books have been written on this subject; and since my favorite one opens with the warning: This book is not for profane hands, I will not give its author away. Suffice it to say that the info contained suggests that the 360 degrees, like chords streaming out from our solar system's center, form a living mandala. It's encoded with recognizable qualities. Some of the degrees speak quite definitively about occupations. I once made this point to a lecture group using as Exhibit A an individual known to the community for his true-to-history costume designs. He happened to have his Venus situated on a degree of costuming! My own chart degrees speak of prophecy. Astrology, in my view, allots the most accurate means for expressing that art.

While psychology, for the most part, focuses on nature (inherited traits) and nurture (how children are raised), neither can account for the fact that in any community, people fall into the same basic roles.

These archetypes are real and enduring. In fact, how often has an individual encountered someone who looks just like someone they know even though there is no genetic link between these persons? All that human flesh is heir to flows direct to us from the filaments of time. The basic Zodiac archetypes are refined further through the 360-degree Mandala of time. Its projections operate like celestial DNA. This wheel of time marks human destiny. It also ensures that in every land, the same human types will exist. That way, the lesson plan articulated by the planetary clockworks will assert regardless of one's place of birth.

Location is an underrated tool of astrological analysis. Often it explains what transits and progressions do not. In my own rather Mercurial life, I've noticed that synchronicity comes into play. For example, during that sojourn in San Diego, I was undergoing my first Saturn return with transit Pluto also conjunct natal Saturn. In other words, themes associated with transiting planets suited the locations I gravitated towards.

Scientific skeptics have sought to disprove astrology by utilizing linear tests that fail (although the scientists will argue otherwise) since it is impossible to square the circle. These "scientists" typically focus on sun signs alone and leave out the holistic character of natal charts. Naturally, when only a single factor is drawn from the full gestalt, that factor cannot produce data that substantiates the full scope of astrology. For instance, since Aries is governed by Mars, the archetype tied to war, it might be assumed that Aries natives will invariably gravitate towards the armed forces. Students of astrology understand that the sun placement in Aries might be offset by Mercury and Venus positioned in peace-loving Taurus, and Mars placed in the diplomatic sign of Libra. In such instances Aries can lead in the arts rather than on the battlefield.
